Snorkeling Experience in Grand Cayman | Spotts Beach

 Hola Amigos,

It feels so good to be back after such a long time . I took a break from blogging as I had some personal commitments and goals to achieve. I am delighted to share with you all my snorkeling experience over past few months and how I started with this exciting underwater journey .

Firstly, I learnt basic swimming years ago while I was in school during the summer camp. So, I had no phobia which is first and foremost requirement to do any water sports. I was always comfortable swimming in the pool. We have a private pool in our apartments where I practiced for few days. I still needed more confidence to get into the ocean as I had never swam in the ocean before. Therefore, I decided to invest in the swimming classes. I took classes with Ocean Frontiers where I met my  wonderful coach Candece, who was very patient and understanding throughout my 8 weeks long swimming course level 2 with her. She taught me intermediate and advanced skills like floating, treading water and took me to the ocean for snorkeling as part of this course. She knew my expectations and helped me alleviate the fear of swimming in ocean. I am so grateful to her. 

During 8 weeks period, I used to practice the skills I learnt during the classes in the ocean which gave me extra boost I wanted to kick-start my snorkeling journey. Trust me all this grind was worth the endearing underwater experiences I had. Amigos, go ahead and check-off your bucket list today ! Life is too short to keep waiting for things that would give you joy. I know, we all learnt this the hard way with COVID-19.

Spotts Beach

This beach is located on the Shamrock Road , 5 minutes drive from Countryside Fosters towards South Sound . It is perfect snorkeling destination for enthusiasts . There are different species of corals and bright tropical fishes out there. Many people have seen sea turtles there , I am yet to spot one. I have seen peacock flounder and stingrays here. This beach has slightly rough waves and strong currents but if you are not going too far then it would be fun to play around . It is a decent beach with cabanas to save you from the tropical heat , people come with their families and it is pet friendly ! I have seen many people playing with their pets. You will enjoy here for sure. The best time to visit this beach is early morning or late afternoon. Don't forget to get your beach towel/chair and snacks !

This is the coral that we found at Spotts Beach. If you want to see this coral , follow this way

1. As you enter Spotts Beach, go towards left side of the dock

2. Stop when you reach the start of private property

3. Start swimming from this point and around 15-20 meters away you will find this beautiful coral.
